The Kannada action thriller KD: The Devil has completed its first week in theatres, crossing the ₹15 crore mark despite mixed word of mouth. Directed by Prem, the film features a pan-Indian cast including Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt and Shilpa Shetty, which helped sustain interest through its opening run.
Over the first seven days it earned ₹14.47 crore net in India. On its eighth day — the second Thursday — it dipped about 12 percent, adding roughly ₹66 lakh net from more than 740 shows, taking the domestic total to ₹15.13 crore.
How the week played out
The film opened with ₹3.50 crore on its first Thursday and held through Friday. Saturday saw a notable 41 percent dip, but Sunday recovered with about 14 percent growth, and weekday holds stayed reasonably steady afterward. Crossing ₹15 crore in eight days offers some comfort to the producers, and the film is still holding a fair number of screens across Karnataka and the metros.
A crucial second weekend
The second weekend will be important for its longer run. With no major Kannada releases this week, the film has a clear window, and the makers are hoping the cast’s appeal continues to draw audiences in the Hindi and Telugu markets. A strong second Saturday and Sunday could put a ₹25 crore lifetime within reach, and the team has been promoting the film actively to counter the mixed reviews.
