Madonna Sebastian, Anna Ben, Aishwarya Lekshmi: Malayali Actresses Take Center Stage in Kollywood with High-Profile Summer Releases

Three well-known Malayali actresses — Madonna Sebastian, Anna Ben and Aishwarya Lekshmi — are set to lead Tamil releases over the next few weeks, a sign of how often female leads from the Malayalam industry are now headlining projects across the border. Distributors have lined up their films between late June and early July, covering romance, crime-comedy and a sports sequel.

June 26: two very different films

First up, on June 26, 2026, are two releases on the same day. Heartin, a romance directed by Kishore Kumar, puts Madonna Sebastian back in relationship-drama territory. Produced by R. Ravindran under Trident Arts with Step One Studios, the film follows a young man, played by Sananth, whose life becomes tied to two women — played by Madonna Sebastian and Emaya T — at different points in his life. The cast also includes Whatsapp Mani and Debnita Kar, with music by Premam composer Rajesh Murugesan, cinematography by Mukes and editing by Barath Vikraman.

Opening the same Friday is the crime-comedy Con City, which marks Anna Ben’s Tamil debut. Directed by newcomer Harish Durairaj and backed by Power House Pictures, M&M Movie Makers and Klout Studios, it releases in Tamil and Telugu. The premise is offbeat: a struggling young man, played by Arjun Das, finds that his receipt printer starts churning out forged ₹500 notes after a lightning strike, pulling him and Anna Ben’s character into a tangle of local syndicates, eccentric figures played by Yogi Babu and Vadivukkarasi, and a police squad. Sean Roldan composes the score, with action by Action Sandhosh.

July 3: Gatta Kusthi 2

A week later, on July 3, 2026, comes Gatta Kusthi 2, directed by Chella Ayyavu and produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh’s Vels Film International with Vishnu Vishal Studioz. The sequel to the 2022 hit brings back the pairing of Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi.

The teaser suggests the story moves forward: the couple are now parents, and while Aishwarya Lekshmi’s character returns to competitive wrestling despite her family responsibilities, Vishnu Vishal’s character steps into the ring himself for a comic turn. The supporting cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Karunaas, Muniskanth, Kaali Venkat and Karunakaran, with cinematography by KM Bhaskaran, editing by Barath Vikraman and music again by Sean Roldan.
