The Kerala theatrical rights for OM: Chapter 1: Udhiram, the Dhanush and Mammootty film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, have gone to Binu George Alexander Productions, as Asianet News Malayalam reported on October 31. Binu George Alexander is also the producer of L368, Mohanlal's new film with Anoop Sathyan, which was launched with a pooja in Kochi on October 30. Wunderbar Films confirmed the Kerala deal on X later the same day, in a post that called God's Own Country OM's next destination.

The Kerala deal and the Tamil Nadu rights

Tamil Nadu was settled first: AGS Cinemas holds the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights, as Wunderbar Films announced on X on October 28. The post billed the deal as the OM storm coming home. OM opens worldwide on November 20.

Binu George Alexander's name is fresh in Malayalam film news this week. The official title card for L368 credits him as producer, with Aashirvad Cinemas and Antony Perumbavoor, and Aashirvad streamed the pooja live.

Mammootty's Tamil return

For Kerala audiences, the draw is Mammootty. OM is his first Tamil film since Peranbu (2019).

Asianet News also reports that OM is Mammootty's first film with Naseeruddin Shah in 32 years. The two last worked together in Ponthan Mada (1994).

The film

Rajkumar Periasamy directs, with Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah and Indrans in the cast. Sai Abhyankkar composed the music, and the film is produced by Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios. For who plays whom, see our OM cast guide.

Our take

A Kerala release for a Dhanush and Mammootty film was always going to matter, and handing it to a producer who is busy with a new Mohanlal project gives the deal extra interest. The film's Kerala run will be the real test of how much Mammootty's Tamil return means to his home audience.

OM is on our November 2026 Malayalam movie releases list. More on the star is on our Mammootty page.
