Rashmika Mandanna Tags Athirapally Photos as ‘Kochi’ — Fans in Comments Do the Geography

· 2 min read · No comments

Rashmika Mandanna is in Kerala filming action sequences for her upcoming pan-Indian film Mysaa, and she has been logging the experience enthusiastically on Instagram. The problem: a set of photographs she posted this week, describing lush forests, waterfalls, and trekking terrain as “Kochi,” were actually from Athirapally — about 60 kilometres away, in Thrissur district. Kerala fans in the comments noticed within hours.

The post, which has since drawn wide attention, was written in Rashmika’s characteristic stream-of-consciousness style. She described insects, waterfalls, trekking, workout sessions in the rain, running, learning action, ankle and knee taping, and confronting her fear of heights — all of it attributed to “Kochi.” The caption ended on a characteristically warm note, mentioning pazham pori and reminding followers to watch their step while walking.

‘Hello, That’s Athirapally’

The correction came swiftly and cheerfully from Malayalam fans in the comments section, with multiple users pointing out the unmistakable geography of the Athirapally falls. Rashmika responded to at least one comment, acknowledging the mix-up directly: the pictures were indeed from Athirapally, she clarified, while the actual shoot for Mysaa was taking place across Kochi and Thrissur. Minor geography, quickly settled.

Fans note that it is an easy mistake if you are moving between multiple locations on a tight production schedule. Athirapally and its surrounding forest terrain, part of the Chalakudy river basin, looks nothing like Kochi’s urban coastline — but for someone parachuting between action set-ups across the state, they say, the distinction between districts can blur fast.

What She’s Actually There For

Mysaa, directed by Rawindra Pulle, is a high-budget period action-thriller in which Rashmika plays a Gond tribal woman on what the production describes as a relentless quest. The Kerala schedule is understood to cover the film’s action sequences — a logical fit given the state’s forest locations and the physical demands the post itself hints at: stunt training, body taping, height work. The film is slated for a 2026 release across Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.

The role is reportedly a significant departure for Rashmika — a harder, more physical character than most of her previous work. The Instagram post, between the trekking detail and the fear-of-heights line, reads like the journal of someone genuinely in the middle of prep, geography slip aside.

Rashmika married Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda earlier this year. This Kerala schedule marks one of her more visible returns to active production since then.
