Veteran actor Shakti Kapoor has shut down rumours about his health after a death hoax began circulating online. On Thursday night, the 73-year-old posted a video from his home to reassure followers that he is healthy and well, and to express his frustration at those spreading the false news.
Looking fit as he spoke to the camera, Kapoor said: “Hello, everyone. My death news is all fake. I am healthy and happy. Please ignore it.” He added that he intended to act on it: “I am going to do a cyber complaint about it, but this is not good.” His followers quickly filled the comments with messages of support and good wishes.
A long career, still active
Kapoor remains a well-known figure in Indian cinema, recognised for his comic and villainous roles across the 1980s, 90s and 2000s. He has stayed busy of late, appearing in the Arjun Kapoor film Mere Husband Ki Biwi and featuring in Mohanlal’s Malayalam film L2: Empuraan — the kind of cross-industry work that has widened his reach in recent years.
The father of actors Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor, he regularly shares updates with fans, and his quick response helped calm the unnecessary worry the hoax had stirred up.
