After a three-year wait since it was first announced, Roopesh Peethambaran’s next project is taking shape. On May 10, 2026, the filmmaker-actor unveiled the first-look poster of Bhaskara Bharanam, marking his return to directing. The striking visual shows Roopesh holding a knife over the character Ajay Pavithran, hinting at a dark, complicated story.
The poster came with a cryptic caption: “Some bonds are twisted. Some love is complicated. Some fathers and sons have a story the world isn’t ready for.” It suggests a grittier turn from his earlier directorial You Too Brutus.
A note of thanks to Dileep
The launch also drew attention for Roopesh’s emotional message to veteran actor Dileep, thanking him for his support during a difficult phase. “Thank you Dileep etta for holding me beside you when many left me and for helping me bounce back,” he wrote. Dileep shared the first look on his Instagram Stories and wished the team well. Roopesh had earlier directed the well-regarded Theevram, starring Dulquer Salmaan, which makes his return behind the camera a notable one for fans.
Cast and crew
On the technical side, Uma Kumarapuram handles the cinematography, Arun Thomas the music and Rashin Ahmed the editing. The cast includes Sonika Meenakshi, Mitun M Das and Parvathy Kalarikkal. Produced by Arumugam K Gowda and Ruby Peethambaran, the psychological thriller is slated for a June 2026 release.
