Unni Mukundan is part of the cast of Ajith Kumar's next film, Daredevil, which was launched with a pooja in Chennai on Monday, November 2. The actor was at the ceremony, and Suresh Chandra, the publicist who handles Ajith's work, shared photos of his arrival on X with the line, "Promising actor Unni Mukundan at the #DareDevil Pooja Ceremony!"

Daredevil, also called AK64, is reported to be Unni's fourth Tamil project. He has worked in Tamil cinema only in short bursts across 15 years, which makes this one of the bigger outside offers of his career.

Daredevil: what has been confirmed

Adhik Ravichandran directs the film, his second in a row with Ajith after Good Bad Ugly. Bravehearts Production is producing, and Anirudh Ravichander composes the music. As per reports, this is his fourth film with Ajith.

Sreeleela, Prabhu, Parthiban, Sunil and Redin Kingsley are also in the cast, and each of them was at the pooja, going by posts from the film's publicists. Ajith himself did not attend. He was in Dubai, according to The Times of India.

The makers have not revealed Unni's character. Suresh Chandra told The Times of India that the role is "very powerful" and that Ajith was particular that Unni play it. Some reports also say the part was first written with another star in mind, but the makers have said nothing on this.

The first schedule is reported to begin in mid November at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, with later legs in Bangkok and Malaysia, as per reports.

Unni Mukundan's Tamil work so far

Unni's Tamil debut came early in his career. In Seedan (2011), a remake of the Malayalam film Nandanam, he was billed as Jai Krishna.

He returned seven years later in Bhaagamathie (2018), the Telugu and Tamil bilingual led by Anushka Shetty, where he played Shakthi.

His most noticed Tamil role so far is Karuna in Garudan (2024), the R S Durai Senthilkumar film with Soori and Sasikumar. Garudan was a commercial success, reports said, and Unni's turn as the friend whose loyalty breaks drew praise from Tamil audiences.

Daredevil is the first time he is sharing a project with a Tamil star of Ajith's size.
