Ramayana Part 1 is in cinemas worldwide from today, November 5, and its producer has already moved the second part a year back. Namit Malhotra has confirmed that Part 2 will now arrive in 2028, not 2027, and he has left the door open for a third film.
World Of Ramayana, the film's official handle, marked release eve on November 4 with a post saying the film plays across all premium formats from November 5.

Ramayana Part 2 shifts to 2028
Malhotra explained the delay in an interview with E! News. "That extra year, I think, is what I genuinely believe we need to do justice to a film of this size," he said. "We didn't want to do a rush job or get ahead of ourselves."
Speaking to Review Nation, Malhotra said Ramayana was first planned as a trilogy before the team settled on two parts, and that they may revisit that depending on how audiences receive Part 1. No third film has been announced.
Two masters, one in English
Part 1 exists in two versions. "We've now come to a place where we actually have two master versions," Malhotra told E! News, explaining that the English version has a separate edit and a rewritten script for international audiences. He told Review Nation that the two cuts have different runtimes, and that he and director Nitesh Tiwari would prefer to stick to one version. In India, BookMyShow lists the film at 195 minutes with a U certificate.
How Ramayana plays in Kerala
Malayalam viewers have one thing to plan around. The Malayalam version plays only in 3D in its first week, with 2D shows following a week later, distributor A.V. Anoop said at a Kochi press meet on October 28. The Hindi version is in all formats from day one. AVA Productions holds the Kerala rights and is reportedly releasing the film jointly with E4 Entertainments. Our Kerala release story has the booking details.
Ramayana cast and music
Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama and Yash, who is also a co-producer, plays Ravana. Sai Pallavi is Sita, Sunny Deol plays Hanuman and Ravie Dubey is Lakshmana. Shobana plays Kaikesi, Ravana's mother. The music is by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, with Tiwari directing for Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations.

With Part 2 now in 2028, the gap between the two films will be at least two years. The makers have not given a date or month for the second part yet.
