Sai Pallavi

Sai Pallavi Senthamarai Kannan earned a medical degree from Tbilisi State Medical University in Georgia in 2016, then chose acting over medical practice. Born on 9 May 1992 in Coimbatore and raised there, she had already appeared in uncredited parts as a child artist and background dancer, and taken part in television dance shows, before her first lead. Her work today is mostly in Tamil and Telugu cinema. That first major role was Malar in Alphonse Puthren's Malayalam film Premam (2015), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. Sekhar Kammula's Fidaa (2017) took her into Telugu cinema and brought the Filmfare Best Actress – Telugu award; Diya (2018) was her Tamil entry. Kali, Maari 2, Athiran, Love Story, Shyam Singha Roy, Virata Parvam, Gargi, Amaran and Thandel came after. Love Story gave her a second Telugu Best Actress win, while Gargi and Amaran earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil. Her tally stands at seven Filmfare Awards South, three SIIMA Awards and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award, along with the Kalaimamani award from the Tamil Nadu government in 2021. She plays Sita in the Hindi film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, set for release on 5 November, and leads the upcoming Tamil film OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood.
