Bethlehem Kudumba Unit: Kerala CM picks 'Poor Glixan'

Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has written an appreciation note for Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, and the character he singled out is not one of its leads. "Along with them, someone who has entered my mind is Glixan. Poor Glixan," he wrote on Facebook on October 20.

Satheesan said a busy schedule had broken his habit of watching at least one film a month. On Monday, October 19, he watched Girish AD's film in one sitting with his daughter and her friend.

What he wrote about the film

He wrote that the film stands apart in its treatment and that he did not get bored for a moment. He connected it with his childhood: the villages, the people, ordinary lives, the love between them and warm romances. After watching it, he wondered why he had taken so long.

He wrote that besides the hero and heroine, even actors who appeared in one or two scenes made their presence felt. The film made him laugh and sometimes sad, and he called it complete teamwork. He added that he does not usually write about films, but did so because he enjoyed it and felt refreshed.

He phoned Girish and actor Sangeeth Prathap to congratulate them, but could not reach Nivin Pauly or Mamitha Baiju.

Who plays Glixan

Reports suggest Glixan is played by Roshan Shanavas, and that Roshan was among those who thanked Satheesan, along with Nivin, Girish, Sangeeth and Bhavana Studios.

That a side character is the name in the Chief Minister's note matches his own point about the film: that even its smaller roles stayed with him.

A second life on streaming

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit opened in theatres on August 21. Nivin plays Justin and Mamitha plays Ashley. According to The Week, the film has been streaming on JioHotstar since October 2 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, reaching viewers who missed it in theatres. JioHotstar Malayalam promoted it again on X on October 17.
