Premalu is a Hyderabad-set rom-com whose production moved through four confirmed hubs: Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Hyderabad and Pollachi. This guide sticks to city-level facts from production reports and the director's own comments. Street and campus IDs without a second reliable source stay out.
Quick facts
- Film: Premalu (2024)
- Director: Girish A. D.

- Runtime: 156 minutes
- Key locations: Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Hyderabad, Pollachi
- Where to watch (as of Nov 6, 2026): Premalu is not streaming in Malayalam as of November 6, 2026. JioHotstar removed the Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi versions in August 2026, ahead of the Hindi remake Prem Keetanu; the Telugu dub is on aha
1. Thiruvananthapuram
- What was filmed: First schedule and official pooja
- When: Shoot started 9 July 2023 with a pooja and switch-on
- Source basis: Times of India production report on the start day
Girish A. D.'s Naslen and Mamitha Baiju film began in Thiruvananthapuram. The start story named about 75 shooting days across four cities. Early schedule work sits here at city level only. We do not name streets or campuses without a crew source.
Our take: Treat Trivandrum as the production launch city, not as a tourist checklist of unmarked alleys. If you are visiting, enjoy the city on its own terms. Do not expect a public Premalu map of private flats, colleges or gated sets that never made the production notes.
2. Kochi
- What was filmed: One of the named schedule cities on the start and wrap reports
- When: Inside the July to September 2023 shoot window
- Source basis: TOI start list and TOI wrap list (Cochin)
Kochi appears on both the July start plan and the September wrap summary as a major location. That is enough to call it a confirmed hub. It is not enough to invent neighbourhood lists from fan threads.
Our take: Kochi readers often want exact cafes and waterfront pins. Until a production or location manager note names them in public, keep Kochi as a schedule city on the map. A street-by-street walkthrough would be fan fiction, not reporting, and it would break the city-level rule this guide is built on.
3. Hyderabad
- What was filmed: Story setting and a major shoot hub
- When: Inside the same 2023 schedule window
- Source basis: TOI start and wrap; Girish A. D. interview on why Hyderabad matters
Hyderabad is both where the film is set and where a large part of the shoot happened. Girish has said his love for the city pushed him to make Premalu there, and that fewer Malayalam films choose Hyderabad over Chennai or Bengaluru. Public landmarks that appear on screen still need separate confirmation before we list them as visit stops.
Our take: If you came for Charminar energy from the trailer, remember the trailer is marketing, not a location credit sheet. The confirmed fact is the city itself. Working IT parks and gated campuses are usually closed to casual visitors anyway, so plan a normal Hyderabad day rather than a set hunt.
4. Pollachi
- What was filmed: Wrap-window location among the major hubs
- When: Shoot concluded 13 September 2023; Pollachi named on the wrap report
- Source basis: TOI wrap story listing Trivandrum, Cochin, Hyderabad and Pollachi
Pollachi closes the confirmed city list. The wrap story groups it with the Kerala and Hyderabad hubs without breaking out which sequences landed there. Do not invent farm or temple IDs from guesswork.
Our take: Pollachi is the quiet end of the Premalu tourism map. City-level confirmation is solid. Scene-level claims without a second source belong in a hold pile, not in this guide, even when a hillside still looks tempting on Instagram, or in a trailer frame.
Visiting tips
Stick to public, ticketed or open city spaces. Do not treat working campuses, offices or private apartments as tourist stops. City-level confirmation is not a street map; use normal city guides for sightseeing and skip unmarked residential lanes.
