The Malayalam connection
For Malayali audiences, the film pairs Soori with Rajisha, the Malayalam actor known for films like Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and June. Soori was recently seen opposite Nivin Pauly in Ram's Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai.
Ravikumar's third film
This is Ravikumar's third film as director, after Indru Netru Naalai (2015) and Ayalaan (2024). The rest of the cast and crew, along with the title, have not been announced.
Soori's move to lead roles
Soori was known for years as a comedian before Vetrimaaran cast him as Constable Kumaresan in Viduthalai Part 1 (2023), his first film as a lead. He followed it with Garudan (2024) and Kottukkaali (2024), in which he starred opposite Malayali actor Anna Ben. Vetrimaaran's presence at the pooja links the new film to the director who first gave him a lead role.
Rajisha in Tamil
Rajisha made her Tamil debut in Mari Selvaraj's Karnan (2021), playing Draupathi opposite Dhanush, and later appeared as Mythra in Jai Bhim. Soori 7 is her first Tamil film with Soori.
Ravikumar's films
Ayalaan, Ravikumar's second film, starred Sivakarthikeyan, who sounded the first clap at the launch. The film is being made in both Tamil and Telugu, and the title will be announced later. Sivakarthikeyan also led Rajkumar Periasamy's Amaran (2024).
