A Dolby Cinema screen combines Dolby Vision projection with Dolby Atmos sound. Many Kerala theatres already offer Atmos sound, but this is the first venue in the state to pair it with Dolby Vision. According to the press note, EVM managing director Jose Mathew said the company opened Kerala's first Dolby Atmos screen in 2014.
India's other Dolby Cinemas
Dolby announced its India plans in March 2025. "Indian audiences are passionate about movies," Michael Archer, Dolby's vice president of worldwide cinema sales and partner management, said at the time.
The four Dolby Cinemas already running in India are City Pride in Kharadi, Pune; AMB Cinemas at Kapali Mall, Bengaluru; Allu Cineplex in Kokapet, Hyderabad; and LA Cinema in Thiruverumbur, Trichy. Dolby India listed all four as Jailer 2 venues from October 15.
Kerala's premium screens
Kerala already has other premium formats. IMAX screens operate at PVR Lulu in Thiruvananthapuram and Cinepolis at Centre Square Mall in Kochi. Palaxi Cinemas has EPIQ screens at HiLITE Mall in Kozhikode and, since December 2025, at HiLITE Mall in Thrissur.
Kerala's theatres have been in the news for other reasons lately, from snack price inspections to disabled ratings on BookMyShow.
