What the teaser shows

Netflix's caption reads, "Akka ki hukumat. Beheno ka raaj. Aur unpar khatre ka saaya," roughly, the Akka's rule, the sisters' reign, and a threat hanging over them. Keerthy plays Bhavani, and Radhika Apte plays Rudra, in a 1980s gangster drama set in a fictional place called Pernuru, reports suggest. Dharmaraj Shetty, who wrote the series, makes his debut as a director with Akka.

A Malayali at the centre

Keerthy started in Malayalam. She appeared as a child artist in Pilots (2000) and Kuberan (2002) before making her debut as a lead in Priyadarshan's Geethaanjali (2013), which starred Mohanlal. Her father, G Suresh Kumar, is a Malayalam producer, and her mother, Menaka, acted in Malayalam films.
