Suraj Venjaramoodu's new film with director Jagan Shaji Kailas started with a pooja on Tuesday, November 3. The ceremony was held at 10 AM at the Purappuzha Sree Puthuchirakkavu Devi Temple near Thodupuzha in Idukki, Mathrubhumi and The Cue reported. The title poster bills the film as Production No. 05, so the film is yet to get a name.
Wow Cinemas presents the film in association with Vilasini Cinemas, Suraj's own banner, and Santhosh Thrivikraman and Suraj are the producers. Vibin Balachandran, who wrote Jagan's Neekkam, has written this film too.
The project comes soon after Suraj's turn in Rajinikanth's Jailer 2. Here is what the makers and reports have shared so far.
Suraj plays Prakashan
Suraj plays the central character, Prakashan. Vinay Forrt plays Chandran and Manju Pillai plays Lakshmi. Devaraj, Tis Thomas, Dr Vrinda Menon, Bhanumathi, Anagha Narayan, Jaffer Idukki, Divya M Nair, Nandu, Tesni Khan, Noby, Krishnaprabha and Santhosh Thrivikraman also have key roles, according to Mathrubhumi and The Cue. Saji Venjaramoodu, Shaju Sreedhar and Riyas Marimayam are also part of the cast.
Kerala Kaumudi reported on November 2 that the film is a comedy with a family backdrop, with Suraj playing a father. Madhyamam also describes it as a comedy drama set in a rural family. The makers have not confirmed the genre yet.
Electronic Kili on music
Electronic Kili, the stage name of Stephin Jose, is the voice behind Eyy banane oru pootharamo from Vaazha, where he was one of five composers, The Hindu reported. Thalavara, starring Arjun Ashokan, was his first solo release, and he is also the co-composer and music arranger of Maranamass.
In an April interview with Manorama Online, he said he was one of ten composers on Vaazha 2, while his score for Krishnadas Murali's Bharathanatyam 2: Mohiniyattam was a solo hit.
Jagan Shaji Kailas after Neekkam
Jagan's film Neekkam, with Dileep, is yet to release, and its teaser drew close to 2 million views. Mathrubhumi describes the Suraj project as his next film after Neekkam. Cinema Express reports it is the third film he has taken on floors, after an investigative thriller with Siju Wilson that wrapped in 2023, and that none of them has been released yet.
Suraj's Tamil run
Kerala Kaumudi reported that Jailer 2 is Suraj's fourth Tamil film, after his debut in Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2, followed by Youth and Kara. In the Nelson Dilipkumar film, he plays the villain Dileep, a role the makers revealed in a character teaser in September. Beyond the Jagan Shaji Kailas film, FilmiBeat lists several more titles in Suraj's lineup, though none have confirmed dates. They include Padakkuthira, Varaham, Pocket Lover, Pappa, Randuper, Perinoral, Mookkilla Rajyathu 2, Actress and Cooling Glass, along with the Tamil film Texla, directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth.
