Siddhu, the son in the middle
Mathew played Siddhu, the elder son of Vijay's Parthiban and Trisha's Sathya, a family whose quiet life in Himachal Pradesh falls apart when gangsters decide Parthiban is the long-lost Leo Das. Siddhu sits at the centre of that conflict, and it was Mathew's Tamil debut.
In an interview with Pearle Maaney last year, Mathew recalled that he could not believe the offer when he was first told he would play Vijay's son. He said Trisha joked on the second day of the shoot that she was not interested in him playing her son, and he replied that he was not interested either. He added that he first wondered if Siddhu might be the couple's adopted son.
Now the lead in Udumbanchola Vision
Three years on, Mathew leads Salaam Bukhari's Udumbanchola Vision as Mithun, alongside Sreenath Bhasi. It opens in Kerala and the GCC on October 23.
The film is set around a small local TV channel and the way news gets shaped. It is one of three Malayalam releases lined up this week.
